About Daniël Hartog

RAW PHOTOGRAPHY

“I love creating pictures that move emotions. My style of making photographs is about purity, a certain infinity, raw in nature and raw in person.”

I love creating work that shows character, not perfection. Emotions rather than glamour and style. In my free time I love to travel and hike, photographing landscapes “along the way”. Places in the world I visit regularly are Norway, Sweden, Scotland & Africa.

I begun photographing in 2007

“…just after my study International Hotel Management. A few months before I bought my first 35mm DSLR. A Nikon D70 with 18-70mm lens. I took a simple day job and began photographing weddings and portraits of kids and family.

After the first 2 years I was in business, I decided to specialize in commercial and advertising photography. Later on I realized this was the right decision, because it made possible to develop my photography in the direction that fitted my personality.

In 2014 I decided it was time for a new direction.

I bought my first medium format camera, a Hasselblad H2 with a Phase One P25 digital back. With that package I purchased two lenses, a 35mm f3.5 and 80mm f2.8. I wanted to create the best quality images possible, enforcing that infinity I try to capture.

My photography is about enthusiasm, happiness, warmth, light, hope, positivity, roughness, love, friends and beauty; Capturing moments when amazed.

Current day we photograph with a Phase One 645DF/Mamiya medium format body and P30+ digital back and two top-of-the-line lenses by Mamiya, the 28mm f4.5 and 80mm f2.8. For events we use a Canon 5D Mark III and Mark II with a wide variety of Canon lenses and Sigma 35mm f1.4 and 50mm f1.4 ART lenses
